DELL LILLINGER WESTERGAARD (DLW)

The Trio DLW combines energetic playing with structural composition in real time. The interaction results in high energy that materializes in different layers of sounds, relationscapes. Form comes into being through musical production. Thereby, the trio transcends the usual dichotomy of rhythm section vs. solo player.

Their recording GRAMMAR (released on gligg-records) demonstrates the trios specific structural approach to form making in manifold perspectives. Other projects include their collaboration with electronic musician and producer Johannes Brecht as DBLW, which is documented in their release “BOULEZ MATERIALISM” from 2018 (PLAIST 002). As Trio Followed GRAMMAR II from 2019 (PLAIST 006) and BEATS from 2021 (PLAIST 009)

SPACE GALVACHERS

A trio whose “sound craftsmanship” and instrumentation create a natural alchemy between contemporary and traditional, acoustic and electric. The first opus presents a repertoire that mixes refined melodies and textural improvisations, highlighting the group’s sound.

The heart of the trio’s approach to sound lies in their timbral research, whose suggestive power inexorably leads the listener on a bewildering journey, a subtle space between the known and the unknown: between sounds with “traditional resonance” that we know but that are not intact, and others that we don’t know but that seem surprisingly close to us.”

Clement Janinet: violin

Clement Petit: cello

Benjamin Flament: percussion

Footprints Panel Discussion: Music market as a network of formal and informal connections

Being now at the point of reviving itself, improvised music market shows a remarkable resilience and ingenuity. With concerts coming back all around the world, we finally can look into the future hopefully and confidently. What the current crisis has proven one more time, it is that the improvised music market is strongly dependent on relationships and connections between all its stakeholders – artists, agents, promoters, journalists. Their need to continue cooperating and coming up with new initiatives and projects, made it possible for them to develop and solidify. Improvised music market is all about human relations, formal or informal, which drum up its effectiveness. Abundance of networks, cooperation and projects, is the pool to use and benefit from in order to keep the improvised music market going. What initiatives are out there, what opportunities do they provide for young artists and how you can get involved in them, will be the topic of this panel discussion.

Footprints Panel Discussion: Ecology in the music business

One of the main horizontal values of the Footprints project is the ecological responsibility of the music sector. The ongoing pandemics has exposed the already existing challenges that the sector is facing and made us realize the burning necessity to start embracing the responsibilities of our activities. However, in order to efficiently approach this issue, we need to be aware of the main factors and activities that increase our impact on the environment. It requires thorough and unbiased research as well as carbon footprints calculations that show what we can do and how we can streamline our activities without putting the burden on artists or compromising artistic values. How to maintain the balance between the artistic choices and ecological responsibility as well as how to make our events more green will be the topic of our discussion.
